At<\/span> <\/span>H<\/span>eart of Adoptions, children are at the very heart of what we do<\/span> which is why s<\/span>preading <\/span>awareness<\/span> <\/span>during<\/span> <\/span>National Child <\/span>Abuse<\/span> Prevention Month is integral<\/span> not just in April, but <\/span>year-round<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Here are some need-to-know<\/span> <\/span>FAQs surrounding child abuse t<\/span>o assist in spreading awareness.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n A:<\/strong><\/em> <\/span>Since 1983<\/span>, the United States has named April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month in order to raise awareness on preventing<\/span> child abuse. <\/span>With over 4.4 million cases, it is our <\/span>mission<\/span> to help bring awareness and put an end to child abuse<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A:<\/strong><\/em> <\/span>Always report any instances of suspected child abuse to the proper authorities. Even if you do not know the child personally, you may be that child\u2019s only hope<\/span> of getting out of a dire situation. While domestic violence is often recognized as being within a partnership between two people, DV can also be reflected in the wider family dynamic involving children. When situations are growing violent between current or former spouses in a household, children are at risk of exposure to violence in the form of verbal arguments and physical altercations. As another step of precaution, intended parents will need to provide ref<\/span>erences <\/span>and<\/span> speak with a counselor to determine if <\/span>they are<\/span> <\/span>physically<\/span>, mentally, and emotionally<\/span> prepared<\/span> to parent a child.
