ADOPTIVE BREASTFEEDING

Inducing Lactation

This site assists with ways to induce lactation as well as other options available. Keep in mind there is more to breastfeeding than just breastmilk. Some mothers chose not to go the induced lactation route but just to feed their baby with a Supplemental Nursing System formula at the breast in order to have the bonding experience of feeding their baby at the breast. http://www.asklenore.info/breastfeeding/induced_lactation/gn_protocols.shtml .

Florida Lactation Consultant Association website at http://flca.info/resourcedir.htm This is a great resource for finding a lactation consultant. Free consultations are also available with a lactation consultant for adoptive mothers to discuss what options are available and they can assist with directing the adoptive mother in the right direction for what is best for her needs.
