Angel Flight West provides free transportation for the medical treatment of people who cannot afford public transportation, or who cannot tolerate it for health reasons. Angel Flight West accepts requests from individuals or health care professionals such as social workers and physicians.

You can also call Angel Flight West toll- free at (888) 4-AN-ANGEL, or (888) 426-2643. If you need transportation outside the Western States, you can obtain a referral to another similar organization in your area by contacting Angel Flight America’s National Patient Travel Center at (800) 296-1217, or visit their website at www.angelflightwest.org.

Discount Airfare

Many major airlines allow discounts for families adopting children overseas. Be sure to inquire when calling for reservations. Some airlines give discounts as much as 65% off coach rates and also allow late, last minute reservations without penalty. Flights can also be rescheduled or cancelled at no cost. Families are encouraged to negotiate with the airline, since many offer even deeper discounts for adoption situations.

Airline Restictions for Flying with Newborn

It appears there is quite a variance in the regulations of different airlines for flying with a newborn (with some having age restrictions for flying and some requiring physician’s approval). The policies and websites are prone to change so we definitely advise adoptive parents call the airline prior to departure, and get required documentation at the 1st pediatrician appointment upon release from hospital. Find a place, reserve it, and coordinate details with your host. Search for places by specific characteristics like neighborhood or room type, length of time needed, etc. This is a great alternative to hotels so you have all the conveniences of a ‘home’ without being in your own.
